Welcome back, Tinkerfolk! 🍂
Last time, you drew a scarecrow — and today, we’re gonna make one! 🎨
Not a real scarecrow (no scratchy hay here! 😅), but a cute one made out of a plastic straw — yep, the kind you drink from! 🥤
Grab your supplies and let’s build our very own mini scarecrow friend step-by-step! 💛
🧰 Step 1: Gather Your Materials
You’ll need:
- 🥤 A plastic straw (bendable at the top!)
- ✏️ Colored pencils or crayons
- 📇 An index card (optional)
- 🩵 Tape or glue
- 🧢 Our Scarecrow Clothes PDF (Click here!)
✂️ Step 2: Print and Color!
Print the PDF and color your scarecrow’s hat, face, and clothes. 🎩👕
Make it bright, bold, and full of personality! 🌈
🪡 Step 3: Cut It Out!
Carefully cut along the dotted lines — these little strips will become the straps to wrap around your straw.
🎀 Step 4: Assemble Your Scarecrow
Tape the hat, face, and clothes onto your straw (but not the bendy part — that’s the stander! 😉).
Use small strips of tape or glue to attach each piece.
Tuck the face under the hat and the clothes underneath. Make sure everything is snug and secure!
💡 Step 5: Give Him Some Support!
Bend the top of the straw and tape it to an index card folded in half (this makes a sturdy stand). 💪
Now your scarecrow can stand tall — guarding your desk, windowsill, or pumpkin patch!
🎨 Step 6: Add the Extras!
Head back to the PDF sheet — want to give your scarecrow a bow tie, scarf, leaf, pumpkin, or even a crow friend? 🐦🍁
Decorate however you like and make it truly yours!
💡 Tinkerchalk Extension Ideas
👢 The scarecrow in the PDF doesn’t have shoes — draw and color your own!
🌽 Draw some corn stalks on cardstock, cut them out, fold the bottom tab, and tape them behind your scarecrow to make a mini scene.
📝 Write about your scarecrow! What’s their name? Where do they live? Why did you decorate them that way?
