When was the last time you let yourself really play? For many adults, “play” gets pushed aside for dishes, laundry, schedules, and responsibilities. In Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie, we meet Vera, a character who hasn’t played with toys since becoming an adult. She believes toys are only for collecting now, not enjoying.
Gabby and her friends remind us of something important: play doesn’t have an age limit.
Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie follows Gabby and her friends on another cat-tastic adventure. While the movie is full of bright colors and silly moments, it also carries a meaningful message for both kids and parents.
Vera, the film’s villain, struggles because she’s forgotten how to play. She tries to keep toys in perfect boxes or on shelves, instead of actually using them. Through Gabby’s help, Vera learns that she can still be an adult and enjoy play. In fact, reconnecting with play helps her heal and rediscover joy.
Gabby herself also faces the reality of growing up, learning that she doesn’t have to let go of her imagination and curiosity along the way.

Pair the discussion with a fun printable or hands-on activity! Try our Gabby’s Dollhouse Fall Maze & Coloring Page — kids can navigate a maze, unscramble hidden letters, and color characters like Gabby, Pandy Paws, CatRat, and Chumsely. It’s a perfect blend of learning, play, and creativity.
✨ Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie isn’t just entertainment — it’s a reminder that play has lasting value. As homeschool parents, we can encourage our kids to hold onto imagination, even as they learn responsibility and grow.
